The Gerbs'

Yesterday I made a post saying that the gerbils were no longer in my possession. That fact is no longer true. My sister decided that, after all, with two extra pets, she was neglecting her splendidly majestic boar. As this would simply not do, and as I was yearning for my gerbils and repenting my rash decision a million times a day, my sister gave them back to me. And now I post pictures of their glossy little selves:

Victor (The one I named after the mouse trap)
Walter (the one I named after no one in particular)
You will notice that, hang on, is that one she claims to be Victor actually the long lost, blog favorite gerbil Klaus??!! Could it be?? But no. Behold:
HE HAS A TAIL!!
Klaus, everybody's favorite gerbil, has a crooked tail!! See below:
By the way, he was like that when we got him. We did not slam his little tail in a door or something.
And now, finally, we see the two new gerbs' together. A rare sight. It is very difficult to get two gerbils in the range of a camera and get a nice picture. Before I started taking the pictures, I told the gerbils beforehand that I did not want this to be a long ordeal. They did not take heed and it took half and hour to get these pictures. I hope you appreciate it.

Well, folks,Ii am back. Unfortunately, I have nothing spectacular to say. The gerbils, I am most grieved to report, are no longer mine. I gave them to my sister (see Normans' Nook), due to a severe case of neglect. I forgot all about the poor things. My sister now has three pets and the gerbils, I am happy to say, are feeling very plump. They have recently had lots of holding (my cousins came and were thrilled by them) and so I believe that they are much happier than they were with me. Please keep the indignant comments at bay. Other than the obvious grievement, I am very well in spirit and in health (other than a little cold), but I miss my aunt and my cousins.

Klaus has died. We are all very sad here. He was 3 and a half, and gerbils are only expected to live 2 years.

I got Klaus a new cage. Well it is actually an old cage. I got it at a garage sale a couple of years ago for no actual reason, since i already had a cage. So the years went by and the cage was used as a playhouse for Klaus, and then my dad took some tubes that I had bought when I got the new cage (it is a tube cage) and stuck one end of a long tube we made into cage, and then he put the other end into the top door of the original cage with wire. That worked for a while, but then Klaus kept on peeing in the tunnel and it was so hard to take out and wash and put back together and then do it again in 1 week. So I took it back apart. So NOW the old garage sale cage is all by itself, with a happy gerbil inside.

Have any of you ever read the books A Series of Unfortunate Events, By Lemony Snicket? It is a very good series of books. And do not think that i am trying to get you to read a little centimeter-thick-softcover-little-kid-book. The series is thirteen books long, and each book is about an inch thick hardcover medium sized book. and the dedications are all very tragic. my mom read the first book and said that is was very good indeed, so if she likes it, the rest of you adult and older kid bloggers will probably like it. as i was saying, the dedications are very tragical. they are all about this mans girlfriend who for some reason he is not allowed to see. the woman seems to be a writer, and her name is definitely Beatrice. then Beatrice died. the writers style of writing is very funny, and it has little bits that he talks, like the part in book the second, where it says "the incredibly dangerous poisonous deadly viper undid its cage quietly and shot forward, and before either Klaus or Violet even noticed, it bit sunny on the chin." the chapter ends right there, and then in the next chapter the writer says, "I am so sorry to leave you hanging there, but as i was writing this book, i looked at the clock and what did i see, but that it was ten minutes after five, and i had a very important meeting with Miss Wendlekin at twenty minutes past five.. Miss wendlekin is a very kind person, her only fault is that she gets very mad if you are the slightest bit late to her meetings, so you understand that i had to leave the typerwriter on the sunny porch and put on a tie and call a taxi cab." so in one of those parts where the author talks, it talks a bit about Beatrice. be sure to read is soon, and i am sure you will, to find out what happened to sunny. but incase you are planning to skip straight to book two and find out what on earth happened to sunny, i do not advise it. then you will miss out on the biggest part of the story if you do not read them in order.

Take this and multiply it by about a million. that is my nightime life. Do you bloggers remember that post about klaus chewing the bars? well, i bet you never thought it was this bad. But recently, i came up with the brilliant idea of putting tape on some bits of the bars, to stop the vibrations. and it worked!!! he barely made a noise the entire night, except for when he got so mad from not making any noise and rammed his face against his little sleeping hutch . if you are wondering what happened after that, he got back to his senses and went to bed. But then, a good whack in the head would make anybody go to bed. there is hope for his little insane self after all:O

Klaus got moved up to my bedroom. the only problem is that he chews on the cage bars all night and makes a terrible racket. I was sitting on my bed with Klaus the other day, and he bit me twice on each leg!!!

hey! i made snow candy! that is molasses and brown sugar boiled together and poured onto snow. it is tasty (and sticky) if you want to try it, you put 1/2 a cup brown sugar and1/2 a cup molasses into a pot and boil it. then pour it onto snow or crushed ice. to wash the sticky dishes you put really hot water into the pot and just let it run. then put it into the dishwasher and wash it or else just keep on washing it if you do not have a dishwasher.

We had SNOW!!! It kept on snowing a whole day and it was about a foot deep...and for the last four days it has been raining. It is almost gone now. I wish we didn't live close to the ocean so we could get more snow. And we are going to Campbell River for Christmas so we probably won't see barely any snow:(

For school i have been learning about canadian exploration, and after the vikings, we learned about marco polo, who travelled to the orient by land.Later, christopher columbus tryed to go to the orient by land. My teacher wanted us to think about why it was so important to go to the orient, for spices, silk, and paper. so it ends up that we have to make a report on any spice we want. We also have to make something with that spice. I chose cardamom. I'm making pulla:)

Hi! Squeakers is a naughty, naughty little girbil.He chewed on his bars so much that he broke the latch! (and got a bald nose!) Now I use a paperclip for a latch. Bad, bad girbil! :(

A day or so ago, Squeakers got out of her cage and ran around on the floor without me knowing! Now THAT got me
wild. We all had to rush upstairs after I saw her open cage.
we all had to be quietand listen for scratching sounds and
that's what we heard and we put her back into her cage,safe and sound.

This is my gerbil, Squeakers. She likes to dig, chew and escape my hands. She sleeps in a coffee can filled with chewed up kleenex. I saved up my money for her for a whole year! She was my favorite because of her little crooked tail. I bought her a 2 storey cage, a wheel, a bag of food, some sawdust, a water bottle and a ball for her to run in. She likes to run on the couch, but I have to be careful that she doesn't fall off.
